Amy has been teaching piano for over ten years. She was classically
trained under Laura Lozier and studied under Dr. Sigrid Luther of
Bryan College in Dayton, TN. Amy is eight teaching generations away
from the famous composer Ludwig van Beethoven. She utilizes the
Leschetizky Method, a focus on beautiful tone and melody, with all her
students from beginner to advanced. Over her high school and college
years, she rose in local and state competitions, winning the Tennessee
Music Teachers Association collegiate piano competition in 2006. In
2009, she graduated magna cum laude with two degrees: a B.S. in Piano
Pedagogy and a B.A. in English Literature. She currently teaches
piano to students ranging from kindergarten to adult. She is also a
middle and high school English teacher at Cherokee Christian Schools.
Amy specializes in helping students find their musical niche, while
teaching with a variety of fun and creative methods in order to keep
them motivated. In addition to Amy's unique teaching techniques, she
is also a member of the Cherokee Music Teachers Association (CMTA),
which gives her students many opportunities to perform and compete
according to their particular interests. A particular favorite among
her students is playing holiday music at local shopping malls during
the month of December. Amy loves to find new and innovative ways to
reach each student, committed to developing well-rounded musicians who
love music.
